How I went from store bought coffee creamer to making my own
If you are on mission like I am, to eat and drink as clean as possible. You might find some value in this post. Let me just tell you I love coffee and I really didn’t want to give up because of the creamer not being considered clean or good for you or to processed . So I went on a bit of a mission to find a good clean, few ingredients creamer. To my surprise I didn’t have to much luck. I found a few with 2 to 3 ingredients but taste like water, not creamy enough for my liking and they where expensive. My 2 favorites are the Organic Half & Half and the Super Creamer.
I am going to dig into the ingredients of these 6 coffee creams and then tell you what I ended up doing for my creamer.
Almond MALK

With all the information I gathered for the 6 coffee creamers the only one I would stay away from is number 3 Super Creamer sweet cream which is crazy because before I want on this journey to find the cleanest coffee creamer I used this one. There are two ingredients in question for me and that is the Potassium Phosphate and Gellan Gum.
The way I determine if it is questionable is if I have to look up the ingredients because one I can’t pronoun's it or I have now idea what it is or why it is used.
Gellan Gum:
It is widely used as a , emulsifier, and stabilizer. It is used in plant-based milks to keep plant protein suspended in the milk.
Potassium Phosphate:
Potassium phosphate helps stabilize, thicken and maintain the pH (acidity or alkalinity) and moisture in processed foods, It also prevents fats from settling out of foods over time, which Potassium phosphate effectively preserves and extends the shelf life of processed foods. It is a common food additive in:
Frozen meals
Canned foods such as fish, soup and vegetables
Meats such as deli meat, sausages and ham
Packaged baked goods
Dairy products
Tofu
Cereal
Crackers
Fruit juices
Condiments
In general, any processed food (including fast food) may contain a phosphate additive such as potassium phosphate. If it takes a lab to make it, it will more then likely take a lab to break it down. With that said I will try to avoid things that are made in a lab.
7. Homemade Almond Milk
Ingredients: Water, Almonds.
Is making your own nut milk healthier? Absolutely. Not only is it healthier, but it's also much richer, creamier and more nutrient-dense. Nothing real compares to homemade almond milk. This light and refreshing nut milk is surprisingly easy to make. Depending on which device you will use to make your almond milk may dictate how you prepare the almonds. If using a blender simply consists of soaking, blending and straining. If useing the MioMat soaking is not necessary. Once you have a taste of fresh, ice cold homemade almond milk you may never purchase store-bought almond milk again.
With all my Research and taste testing of which coffee creamer would be the one for me was a bit discouraging to say the least. What I found best for me was to make my own almond milk. I went ahead and purchased the MioMat, it seriously might be one of the best kitchen gadgets that I a bought. In about 13 minutes I have about 44 ounces of nut milk. It is capable of all sorts of things soups, soy milk, oat milk, nut and seed milk. You can personalize it however you like, for example I have tried cinnamon sticks and vanilla I enjoy both of those. There are quite a few different nut milk makers on the market now so do a little research and pick the one that s suits you best. Here is the link for the MioMat:
